Surface Transportation Board Filing Hub

OMAHA, ATLANTA, (Apr. 30, 2026) — Union Pacific today filed its amended merger application with Norfolk Southern. July 28, 2025: Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern Board of Directors unanimously approved the transaction
July 30, 2025: The Surface Transportation Board (STB) acknowledged receipt of Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern's notice of intent (prefiling notification), which officially initiated the regulatory review process
Nov. 14, 2025: Shareholders of each of Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern voted to approve the transaction
Dec. 19, 2025: Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern filed their application with the STB
Early 2026: Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern conduct additional analysis and modeling of data to respond to the STB’s request for additional information
April 30, 2026: Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern refile their merger application
May 2026: Application accepted
August 2026: Response application due
November 2026: Responses to comments due
January 2027: Final briefs submitted, record closes for written testimony
