OMAHA, ATLANTA, (May 28, 2026) — Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern applaud the STB’s decision to accept their merger application, calling it apositive step toward a reinvigorated,more competitive U.S. railroad industry. The companies acknowledged the STB’s request for additional information and are committed to working constructively with the Board toward a mid-2027 completion. America’s first transcontinental railroad is supported by more than 2,000 stakeholders who understand how this endtoend combination will enhance competition and deliver broad public benefits by shifting 2.1 million truckloads from the highway to rail, protecting union jobs and driving substantial cost savings.
